Summery Fall Tote Bag

Here are just some of the things I'll still be using as we head into the warm but still sunny part of the Fall season. I'm a huge fan of tote bags and bought this flowery print one from UNIQLO for less than $10 CAD, a real steal. I'll also still have my classic aviator glasses from Forever 21 and my loose but colourful scarf from Ardene at hand for the sunny + breezy sort of weather. Oh, and I guess I just liked the way my L'Oreal bottle looked against the tote but seriously this detangler is a must-have and cuts down the minutes you'll spend combing out knots.

What summer items do you still plan on using this Fall? :)

Update + Brandy Melville Giveaway II Preview (Open Soon)

Hi everyone, please accept my sincere apologies for being somewhat MIA from the blogosphere lately. I promise to make it up with this update and preview on the special surprises to come.

So just to recap, I started blogging at the beginning of July and managed to publish many posts within a short timeframe. But at times I felt they were forced or just following the typical fashion blogger route. So for the past couple of weeks I've decided to take it slow and muse over a couple of blogging books like Dana Fox's "Blog Wonderful" and the classic "Blog Inc" by Joy Cho. I'm not an avid book reader, but I found those two books jam packed with useful tips and inspiration.

Reading those two books made me realize the importance of having a short-term plan for the future of my blog. So in the next 2 months I will be showcasing some local businesses, great deals from my back-to-school haul and have a short series on affordable Fall boots. You might also want to watch out for some more of my giveaways!

Well, speaking of giveaways, I meant to offer one once I reached my 50 followers target on Bloglovin. But since then, that number has been climbing and I reached 100 this past week! So to thank all of my loyal readers (+ to warmly welcome the b2school season) I have followed through with your requests and will be holding a second Brandy Melville giveaway! And if you've read any of my previous posts, you'd know I'm an obsessed Brandy Melville fan.

So right below is a sneak preview of the giveaway prize; it's the Brandy Melville loose graphic "Stay Classy" tank valued at around $21 CAD.

Excited to enter?

Then let me know by commenting below and I'll consider opening the giveaway in less than 24 hours :)

Polaroid Obsession

Polaroid Obsession by stylevancity featuring Polaroid beauty products

I don't know about you, but I really like polaroid cameras for some reason. Maybe its cause of their instant artsy gratification, small-size and wide array of colours. At times I think it serves more as an accessory rather than the simple point and shoot.

Personally, I own Fujifilm's Instax Mini 7s, a small compact polaroid that produces credit card sized souvenir photos. I bought mine on sale for around $70 CAD at London Drugs compared to the usual $100 at Urban Outfitters. While the camera itself wasn't a huge investment, the film costs nearly $1-2 a piece which seems like an overwhelming recurring expense. As a result, I don't use my polaroid as much as I'd like to and I feel pressured to get the perfect shot the first time round.

Nevertheless, I still enjoy taking it to parties, get-togethers or to my local park just to have substantial memories of some of life's precious moments.

Review: Perfect Twelve Colours Palette

eyeshadow, colourful, beauty, products, review, vancouver, make-up, cheap, affordable, Canada, rainbow, pretty

So I was in my local drugstore the other day checking out the make-up section in search of an affordable experimental eyeshadow palette. I'm not the biggest make-up girl but I just thought I'd add a little something colourful to my collection of fairly neutral and conservative shades. I found the Absolute palettes on a shelf in an array of sizes and colour combos, but finally settled with this one.

The colours are super bright and a little shimmery (except black) and the palette comes with a small two-sided sponge brush.

The colours are fairly pigmented even with just 3 - 4 strokes and no primer. It went on pretty smooth and it wasn't too hard to remove with a dash of eye make up remover. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the product and would go buy another one when it runs out.

I'm definitely going to have some fun with this and I plan on trying those crazy colourful tutorials when I have the time.

It cost me $6.99 CAD, but I've seen it for way cheaper on other sites. Check it out here for $1.99 on

What do you think of Absolute's Perfect Twelve Colours palette? :)

OOTW: That girl at the steakhouse

OOTW #3 by stylevancity featuring short skirts

A night out with girlfriends at a classy steakhouse, just letting loose and revealing the inner foodie. Surely moments are shared, laughter erupts and a family stares at you and your friends oddly. A friend pulls out her polaroid to take a group selfie, which ends up on Facebook later that night.

I guess that's what inspired this outfit of the week that's fun, girly and stylish. I've worn fairly similar outfits (colour-wise) and this combo is guaranteed to bring in compliments! Pair a frilly top like this one from Zara with a chiffon skirt and throw on some bold heels like these from Payless. Voila!

1. Top with Frills and Laces $41 CAD - Zara
2. Chiffon Skirt $32 CAD - H+M
3. Lumos Dorsay Pump $30 CAD - Payless

Juicy Couture Obsession

Juicy Couture Obsession by stylevancity featuring juicy couture purses

1. Bright Leather Mini G $128 CAD
2. Giraffe Charm $50 CAD
3. Leopard Cateye Sunglasses $125 CAD
4. Robertson Leather Hobo $340 CAD
5. Charmy Elastics $26 CAD
6. Penny Nylon Drop In Key Pouch $29 CAD
7. Striped Rose Scarf $81 CAD
8. Pre-Assembled Key + Padlock Charm Bracelet $91 CAD

For some reason, I just really love Juicy accessories. Maybe it's because of their super looped logos, royally golden crests and stand-out bright colours. I love their products because they're fashionably stylish yet aesthetically cute and add a touch of personality or flair to any outfit. But yes, I admit they're pricey at times but just wait for a sale (cause they have lots) and treat yourself to something nice!

I personally own a few Juicy accessories and wherever I've taken them, I've always gotten lots of compliments. If you purchase any of the above be prepared for the storm of "Oh that's adorable!"'s or "Where'd you get that?"s from fellow fashion and non-fashionistas.

Any Juicy fans? Any accessory must-haves? :)

Little Moments: A Peek into Vancity

I was getting ready to head on a bus Downtown to go shopping on a laid back, dog day of summer. The sun was beaming and the weather was hot so I thought I'd go out to check on some sales. But on my way I just stopped in the middle of the sidewalk. I had no sense or urgency (for once) and my peripherals (yelling "just stop!") had finally won.

I told myself to appreciate what was around me and just take a moment or a minute to truly feel what its like to live in a beautiful city like Vancouver. When I'm in a hurry I don't pause but merely take for granted the clean air, the greenery and the space. So I thought I'd take a break today and instead post this as a reminder to just take a minute out of that 24 hour day of yours to pause, look and appreciate  what's around you.

OOTD: Perfect Day for Ice Cream

This is one of my summery outfits for strolling down the streets of Downtown to do a little bit of window shopping! Sorry my necklace is backwards in the first photo but I realized it wasn't a bad look either! I'm wearing a floral hi-lo and burgundy tank from H+M and it was all for an affordable $40! My necklace was gifted to me recently from a friend who knows I'm a fashion-lover.

Standing in a not so sunny spot

One necklace, two looks!

And nothing beats a matcha (green tea) soft-serve ice cream on a warm, super bright Vancouver day!

What's your must-have on a summery shopping day? :)

Pink Summer Loves

Pink Summer Loves, Aldo, Brandy Melville, summer, summer login, the bay, red, white, fashion, blog, editorial, love, polyvore, beautiful

Pink Summer Loves by stylevancity featuring john galt

1) Open Blazer $42 CAD - Dynamite
2) Washed Fabric Backpack $42 CAD - Brandy Melville
3) Wrap Midi Prom Dress $120 CAD - Topshop (the Bay)
4) Rosata Crossbody Top Zip $130 CAD - Guess (the Bay)
5) Rosette Hair Clip Set $2.96 CAD - Forever 21
6) Kitten Heel Pumps $29 CAD - Forever 21
7) Crochet Short $12 CAD - Dynamite
8) Asymmetric Hems Blouse $21 CAD - Mango

This is my sweet collection of pink coloured favourites from some of my preferred brands. Up first is the light coloured blazer (1) from Dynamite that looks great over any bright coloured top paired with some beige skinnies. Next from the one and only Brandy Melville is a washed out backpack (2) that would be ideal for the beach or fashionably camping (just kidding). For that summer cocktail party or just watching fireworks, I'd definitely wear this elegant V-neck dress (3) from the Bay. And again from the Bay we have a beige/pinkish purse (4) that would add a touch to any summer look. Forever 21 is notorious for their range of accessories and these rose hair clips (5) are no exception; I'd wear them to spice up a plain dress. These coral pumps (6) can be worn to complete any summer outfit and give that pop of colour. As a lover of crochet and lace I couldn't leave out Dynamite's form-fitting shorts (7) which I'd wear under a dark grey blazer. And lastly we have a light chiffon tee (8) from Mango which could be worn over printed leggings with flip flops for that casual look.

Let me know which ones you like!
